The Uvalde Methodist Church Fishers of Men Sunday School class is providing laundry detergent and will pay for the cost of laundry services at the Minits Convenience Stores Laundromat at 800 East Main Street FREE of charge.

The Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc. is currently setup at the SacredHeart Church in Uvalde and is offering financial assistance, housing assistance, supplies and legal services FREE of charge.

Important Shelter Update (7/23/26)

The Red Cross shelter, established at the William R. Mitchell Uvalde County Fairplex for flood evacuees, has been decommissioned.  All operations at this location have formally concluded.

SNAP Replacement Benefits

To apply for SNAP replacement benefits in Uvalde County for food destroyed by recent flooding, you must submit Form H1855 to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) by August 12, 2026.

 

How to Submit Your Application

• Apply in person: Fill out and drop off Form H1855 at the local Uvalde Health and Human Services office at 112 Joe Carper Drive, Uvalde, TX 78801.

• Submit via fax: Fax your completed Form H1855 directly to 877-447-2839 if you are unable to travel.

• Submit via mail: Mail your document to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, P.O. Box 149027, Austin, TX 78714-9027.

 

Key Details to Remember

• Approved funds are distributed back to your Lone Star Card within two business days of HHSC receiving your form.

• Eligible food losses include any items bought with SNAP benefits that were ruined, spoiled, or lost due to the flooding or its resulting power outages.

• Additional questions or help locating local community resources can be handled by dialing 2-1-1 from your phone.

PORTABLE SHOWERS:

The Texans on Mission have portable showers* set up at the Baptist Temple Church Uvalde TX (across from Sonic) for use between 10am-3pm DAILY.

Volunteer Reception Center/Disaster Assistance Center (Update 07/28/26)

As we transition to a Long-Term Recovery Group facilitation, the Volunteer Reception Center will CEASE operating a physical location after Tuesday, July 28th.

​

All established methods of communication (messages on this Facebook page, emails, helpuvalde.com website and forms, etc..) will remain manned by local volunteers helping in this recovery effort.

​

ALL in-person consultation on concerns should be sought from the DISASTER ASSISTANCE CENTER at Community Health Development, Inc. which will continue operating until next Wednesday, August 5 (with potentially extended days from this point).
